Kim Parker – Pedalling for Perspective

Sometimes in desperation our lives need to turn in new directions. That was what Kim Parker decided after several setbacks and a reluctance to rejoin the rat race, she did what any sane person would do—she hopped on a bike and set off across Southern Africa. Her mission? To join the Old Legs Trust and raise funds for Zimbabwean pensioners struggling with hyperinflation and skyrocketing healthcare fees.

Spanning 2,600km through rugged terrain, potholes, sofa-carrying bicycles and rats on sticks and communities few ever see, Kim’s journey was more than just a charity ride. It was a soul-searching odyssey that offered unexpected moments of joy, quirky new friendships, and countless opportunities to laugh in the face of exhaustion. Sometimes the road less travelled is the one that leads to a deeper understanding of both the world—and yourself.

Pedalling for Perspective is a tribute to resilience, hope, and the wild idea that a single act of defiance can change the world.

The Old Legs Trust (OLT)

The OLT was initially started to help Zimbabwean pensioners in a small way. That was until a staggering need was identified after an old gentleman tried to self-rectify gangrene by sawing off his foot on his kitchen floor. He bled to death because he couldn’t afford the antibiotic treatment. The OLT targets evolved to help Zimbabwe pensioners with their medical funds.
