About the book
Bringing up a child is a treasured sacred duty and starts from the very day they arrive into the world. Whether you are biological parents, foster parents, surrogates, teachers, or any other person who has this duty, this guide is for you.
John-Paul Duffy was privileged to be brought up by his mother, Marian, and by the grace of God, he was able to spend a week with her when she was aged 92, just before her death.
Marian had raised not just one family, but two, starting with her younger siblings when she was aged just 13. She married at 28 and had eight children of her own.
It is from that wealth of experience that these 50 tips have been born.
Simply explained, practical, tried and tested, these are the tips that Marian handed over to John-Paul.
About the author
John-Paul Duffey is the youngest son and seventh child of Marian and Daniel Duffey. Raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John-Paul is the only sibling not to have children. From an early age, John-Paul envisioned a life of adventure, travel, and having ample flexibility to explore the world.
John-Paul has lived in Washington D.C., New York City, and Paris. After graduating with an undergraduate degree in Spanish from Temple University, he later received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, both in his hometown of Philadelphia.
After many years working in the insurance business, John Paul left the USA to pursue travel and is a resident now of Medellin, Colombia where he has designed what has become the #1 short-term lodge in Medellin: www.casadelreloj.com.co.
While not having children of his own, John-Paul always has had a passion for observing family and especially the parents as they undertook one of the most important jobs on earth: raising children. This book is about the practices his mom and dad followed and which he wanted to share with the world.
John-Paul speaks four languages fluently in addition to English: Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian. This book will be translated into these languages soon, and many likely many more.
