Children are regularly raped by trusted loved ones, who are supposed to protect them, ruining their chance to be a child. Often, these incidents are not reported and sometimes when they are, elders do nothing to protect the perpetrators who are often the household breadwinners. It is not only rape but physical and verbal abuse, negligence, deprivation and in extreme cases, death.
Mother Nature, Mother Gaia, our environment is also being raped. Litter, deforestation, chemical spills and other forms of pollution happen on a regular basis and yet the same people who pollute, expect the environment to continue to be good to them.
As the environment fights back through natural disasters, the girl at the centre of our story also fights back, taking her pain and turning it into a step ladder to heal herself and others who are going through the same pain she did. Learn from her.
