Soul Whispers in Sea Minor is the first collection of poetry from Bernadette.
Inspired by her time working aboard a cruise liner during the Covid lockdown, the poems reflect on life, love, passion, darkness, sacrifice, letting go and holding on all captured in emotional verse.
Bernadette writes on Facebook under the name “Hakuna Mikapa” and has won awards for her poetry.
Bernadette Pekeur was born and raised outside the city of Cape Town, in the beautiful Boland town of Worcester.
There she finished her education and started a career in the medical field as a nurse and worked abroad for several years before she joined the cruiseliners.
Since her school days, Bernadette had a love for arts.
Between her studies, sports and Ballet classes she wrote poems and won a few competitions. It was not until recently that she decided to publish her first bundle of poems call Soul Whispers in Sea-minor. Poems which she wrote being at sea on the ship during the Covid outbreak.
